Below is a verse written by Tom May which Tom read at Chubby's Funeral
Where's Chubby?
I've heard said so often
'Where's Chubby?', 'When is he coming round?'
My gutterings all overflowing
and my down pipes fallen on the ground
And I'd tell them he'd be there tomorrow
Then be off down the road at a pace
He'd turn up a week or two later
and STILL put a smile on their face
Where's Chubby?
The customers ask me
It's been almost a year and a day
since all of my works been completed
here I am still wanting to pay
He'd appear and was gone in an instant
Where to? - We could never quite tell
He was a rascal like Will O' the Wisp
D'arcy's very own Pimpernel
Where's Chubby?
The Darts teams all chorus
Where's Chubby?
To drive us all home
Where Chubby?
To sort out our problems
We're just like lost sheep on our own
Where is he? Now Smurfs are not funny
And our van rides have come to an end
When we want a few quid until pay day
or need to talk to a friend
But now if they ask me - 'Where's Chubby?'
I can tell them just where he will be
He'll be in the quiet village twilight
In the mist, on the marsh, by the sea
In a warm pub bar, on a winters night
With the rest of the lads and me
In the forge, by the farm, with the family
Where his fun and his laughter remain
Till some far off day, when tears fade away
and we'll all laugh together - again.
